| The Dragster is like no
other scooter ever made. Based around an open trellis frame, similar in construction to
the frames used by that other Italian two-wheeled icon, Ducati, the Dragster has
remarkable, head-turning looks. It
uses Italjets independent steering system (SIS) but the front hydro-pneumatic
suspension unit has been turned back through 90º and sits exposed between the
riders legs.
The rear suspension is equally innovative with a
patented three-part cast alloy swinging arm and transmission case acting on a centrally
mounted hydraulic monoshock. |

These solutions
greatly increase torsional rigidity ensuring stunning handling which, added to the
D50LCs low centre of gravity, allow it to be thrown through corners.
The cooling systems radiator is mounted in a nose that looks like it was inspired by
the film Alien. Above this is a heavily chromed headstock with dropped handlebars and
custom chrome mirrors. Set in the middle of the dash is a large, white-faced
speedometer and a comprehensive set of tell tale warning lights. The dropped bars produce
a riding position where the riders weight is slightly over the front wheel which
gives better front end grip through tight bends. |
A new 50cc motor, unique
to the Dragster in the Italjet range, drives through centrifugal automatic transmission.
The Dragsters weight of only 85kg ensures brisk acceleration and a class leading top
speed of 48mph. The Dragster rides on Italjets lightweight five spoke cast alloy
wheels and fat, low profile Michelin tyres. The braking system comprises a 175mm hydraulic disc at the front and a 190mm disc
at the rear. Other Dragster specifications include a lockable mobile phone holder,
electric starting, automatic lubrication, CDI electronic ignition, race-style fuel
filler, under seat helmet storage and a 150cm Xena cable lock. |
